  • The back sliding door in our rental home has a broken lock. I have requested repairs be done and the landlord said he would fix it but it has been over 6 months and it has still not been repaired. I do not feel safe in my home because I can not lock the door and someone could come in and harm me. What can I do to remedy this situation. Do I have any rights? Is this a health and safety issue? Is the landlord required to make sure the back door lock is in working condition?
  • I started divorce proceedings against my husband but now he is dying from liver failure and on hospice. Which is to my advantage, the divorce or remaining married, we are separated now. This is purely a debt issue because of medical and other outstanding bills of his.   • I was renting a trailer for over a year and about 8 months ago I started getting sick. I moved bedroom furniture and discovered mold on the wall. I immediately moved out but had to leave 2 beds, couches, pillows, comforters, etc. My daughter and I ended up on my moms floor with no pillows or blankets so I asked for $200 of my security deposit back and was told I had to sign a waiver before I received my money. Before I moved in a pipe had burst and was fixed by the maintenance man who came in and told me the mold was probably in the walls the whole time. Is there anything I can do?

  • I am trying to file a modification for support. I have talked to numerous agencies regarding the fact that I have no information (salary and address) for the other party involved. DCSE told me to file it with my info and they would send the packet to the other party to be completed. A clerk of the court rep. said that I had to make some effort to serve the other party- or my modification would be thrown out. What is the actual answer to whether or not I can file with just my information, and the court will send off the packet or if I have to attempt to serve the other party?

My court order also states that each party is responsibe for one half of all uncovered medical expenses. We currently are in a situation where our medical deductible has not been met therefore a total hospital bill is due in the amount of $2200 for my daughter. My ex wife is refusing to pay her half...what do I need to do?

  • We had no electric in one room of our rental for 9 months. It would sometimes flicker when we jumped on the floor or slammed the door. We contacted the landlord several times to repair it. We have several text messages stating such. The cost to repair was more than 50% of our rent. We gave our 30 day notice on July 2 for August 1st after months of trying to get this repaired. Our landlord checked us out on Aug 1 stating everything was perfect and we would receive all of our deposit back in 14 business days. Our total deposit was $1850- we received $300. They stated we did not give them notice.
