  • When a person passes away are the outstanging debts,like credit cards passed on to their adult children?
  • i don't have the money for an attorney to complete my divorce. I have been living seperately from my husband for 4 years. I don't qualify for living at or near poverty level but only have about $40.00 a month in disposable income. Is there anywhere that i can get help?
  • I filed for ch. 7 bankruptcy and my debts were discharged on June 2011. To this date I'm badly behind on my house payments, and my lender offers me a reduced monthly payment of $350. The problem is that my lender does not want to make any promises in writing and does not give me straight answers on what happens if I keep my end of the deal. I'm affraid my lender will simply foreclose when it may fit its interest, disregard of my needs. Also, it is wise to enter into any deals post bankruptcy if my debts are discharded already and thus, uncollectable? Thanks!
  • what assistance is available to me I was 12 months behind caught up on six in September and they started foreclosure this month sell date is Feb of 2015 I thought they were working with me and no notice foreclosure.? my husband was on unemployment for over 4 years and recently is now working and we are able to catch up and stay on track.
  • An insurance company contacted us and informed us that our father purchased us whole life policies the year of our birth. He is not alive so we have no information on these policies. The insurance company claims that both my brother's and my policies have had two loans issued against them on the same date. They cannot provide us any documents to prove the loans that have over the last 30+ years have increased for interest and penalties to over $8500 on each policy. It is my understanding that an active contract requires documents associated must be kept. Would that be accurate?
  • We gave a deposit hold to a real estate agent who said it was to keep our application in first place. In order to rent the house, they were needing 6 months rent ahead of time. She received the hold on the 16th, we submitted an incomplete application on the 17th and on the 21st she requested the remainder. On the 22 I informed her that we would not be able to provide the 6 months of prepaid rent to her as we originally thought and that otherwise we were not eligible to rent the property. She is now saying that we have no right to our hold. On the application it says deposits can be refunded
  • How long do family members need to wait to be allowed copies of a Will? Do family members get notices?
  • I was arrested for several checks that had bounced on a business account I was a signer for but it wasn't my account. The business paid the full amount of the bounced checks and it was dismissed by the judge, but it is still showing as a felony charge on my record and I can't even get an apartment because of this charge. How do I remove this from my record?
  • I received a certified letter from my landlord that I have to vacate the property in 30 days. However this is not enough time for me and my kids to find a new place to live. Do I legally have to vacate in that amount of time or is she just making sure to start the process in notifying me? I'm afraid I might end up homeless, losing all my belongings, and be escorted out by the police.
  • Do I have the right to with hold rent for days I wake up with no heat? I remember having same issues last winter. The heat is included in the rent, but that doesn't give them the right to not maintain it properly. I'm sure they will "fix" it again, but it will only be temporary, and I will wake up cold again in a few weeks or so.
