  • My son-in-law sued for divorce from my daughter. Two kids are involved--16 and 11. His attorney (say Mr. X) has subpoenaed me to testify on his client's behalf. I do not want to testify. Q1. Does the fact that his attorney met with my wife and me c. 1 yr ago to discuss my daughter's issues as the relate to the kids disqualify him as having knowledge we gave in confidence to him? Q2. Does the same apply to my wife, my daughter's step mother? Q3. I have worked with both to provide a negotiated settlement, divulging information that may compromise her if I testify. • If a parent is in the military and their legal state of residence is Arizona, and so was the spouses and children at time of filing, wouldn't that give Arizona jurisdiction for child custody? Even if neither person had lived in Arizona for the past 11 yrs? Parent filing at the time was stationed overseas, but has since moved back to the states. The other parent (who has the children) resides in Kentucky, but at the time was not a legal resident of Kentucky.
  • The mother left me off of the birth certificate and now I would like to petition for a paternity test and look into getting parenting time. I was wondering what documents I would need to file at the court and if a trial, where she and I were both in a courtroom in front of a judge, was imminent, or if the court would bring us both in to a judge in an office to discuss things. If we were brought into an office would lawyers be allowed or strictly she and I? Also, what if I file a parenting time petition and the mother does not agree to it? Could the judge agree to it without her consent or?
  • If the child's father has not been around for all of 7 years of her life how can I object to my daughter seeing him or getting any parent time at all since the courts are making us go through therepy?
  • I helped my fiancé purchase a new car. I have good credit and got a great rate. She's making the payments but moved out and I don't know where she is. As long as she's making the payments I'm OK, right? If she stops payments that would not be good. What is the worse that can happen? If I have the spare key and were to get the car back is it considered stealing since the car is in my name?
