Domestic Violence

questions & answers

Question: My Brother is a 32 combat veteran of the 5th Special forces group. He was arrested yesterday for aggravated assault. He is heavily medicated due to injuries and may be a threat to his family. His wife called me yesterday asking me to help but I do not know what I can do. Can some one offer me some advice on what, as his brother, I can do?

Answer: Domestic abuse can take many forms.  Is isn't always physical abuse. There are a number of domestic violence resources in Arizona that you may find helpful:  Arizona Coalition to end Sexual and Domestic violence (http://www.acesdv.org/) 1 800-782-6400; Arizona Crime Victims Services (http://www.azdps.gov/Services/Crime_Victims/) 1-877-785-2020; National Domestic Violence Hotline (http://www.thehotline.org/is-this-abuse/abuse-defined/) 1-800-799-7233. Another resource is Community Legal Services at 602-258-3434. You will find an article in this website that contains a fairly comprehensive list of resources and telephone numbers that may be of help.  You will find it on this site at http://www.azlawhelp.org/articles_info.cfm?sc=4&mc=1&articleid=85.  Review the resources listed here and contact someone for help. You deserve to be safe and free from abuse.
