QUESTIONS

  • I moved into a new upstairs apartment unit in May 2011. It is now June 2011. Everything is great, except I have downstairs neighbors who play loud music from 1 am-5 am. The music is soft enough, but the bass is extremely loud. It vibrates our beds, floors and walls. We have spoken with the manager, who says that she can do nothing. The police have come, (twice), and are sympathetic but because it seems to affect only me (the vibration is in the bedroom below me), they don't know what else to do. Can I break my lease? More specifically, I want to change units. Can that be done?

  • I am going to take my children to San Diego for a couple of days. Do I have to ask their mother/ for permission. We reside in AZ and we have joint legal custody but I am the primary custodian with her visitations only being every other weekend and tuesdays and thursdays 3.30pm-7.30pm. This trip will not interfere with her visitation nor does it say anywhere on the decree about vacations Her visitation schedule does not change during breaks either. It is same all year round. Please advise. Thanks.
  • My apartment has developed a rat problem. I found a hole that I believe they are coming out of. Instead fixing the hole the landlord told me to buy traps and poison then he'll reimburse me. Can I fix the hole and bill the landlord? If i break the lease can use this issue in court to get out of paying back rent?
  • i was kicked out of my nursing program 3months before i was due to graduate because a background check company falsely reported a 13 year old misdemeanor drug possession. because of their mistake I also lost my externship job offer. I have since provided that company documentain from the state they claim i was accussed in confirming they're error. I was reinstated into my program and have since graduated but it took me a year and I racked up a large bill fighting them. they ruined my life for a year and I want to sue them for the financial burdens they caused me. Im not sure how to start this
  • I was let go from the company I work for. I had employee housing that I took a paycut for to supplement me staying in the house. I was not given an eviction notice but was told that I needed to be out by 6 pm the same day. It was 1 pm when I was informed. My final check has been withheld until I move out. And my landlord/employer has told me the locks will be changed the next day. Is this even legal??

  • I have 5 days to leave. I was given a 5 day notice of non rental payment on 7/1/2015 and minutes later she returned with an acceptance of partial payment where our agreed schedule of rent is divided into 4 with 1st payment due 7/10/2015 I was on time that week but after for the 17th I was late in which my mom helped me with and landlord accepted assuring I'd get to stay as long as all was paid by the first that was 3 days ago. Today was court I was told wouldn't have to go I had an accident a week ago broke collar bone & arm &4 mos pregnant. Do I have to go and what about my moms money?
