Child Custody

questions & answers

Question: My parents might be getting a divorce, so is it possible for me to claim custody over my younger siblings as their guardian? If so, how?

Answer: Depending on your age, the age of the siblings, and why the siblings should not stay with one parent or another, you may be able to file for guardianship. Go to: http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/SuperiorCourt/Self-ServiceCenter/ for the forms if you live in Maricopa County, if you are outside of Maricopa County go to http://www.azcourts.gov/selfservicecenter/Home.aspx for the forms. You may also want to speak with an attorney as to your rights and how to proceed with guardianship.
