QUESTIONS

  • I am appealing an eviction action. The judge in the courtroom did not fully read my eviction action answer or counterclaim. He ruled in favor of the plaintiff without all of the necessary information to do so. Is that legal?
  • My Gandson's mother took off when he was 3 weeks old, he resides with my son since we brought him home from the hospital.. My question is do how do I go about getting gardianship of him when my son goes into the Airforce in Feb, my son is willing to sign custody over to myself does the mother still have the right to take him since she does not come around to see my now 5 month old grandson?
  • I informed my landlord that there were several things that needed to be fixed (the dishwasher and the toilet) She never responded to my requests. I waited several days. I then informed her that I would have these items fixed and that I would provide her with receipts of the work done and deduct it from my rent. Again, she did not respond. Now she is seeking late fees for the amount that I deducted from my rent. In addition, the roof has leaked for the last year and after numerous requests has not been fixed to my knowledge. Can she do this and can I break m y Lease?
  • My brother is a broker and the trustee of my mothers estate. He has misuse his powers of a broker and the trustee of the estate.
  • My widowed mother disinherited my sister who is my only sibling. Her will states that she has 2 children and my sister and I are named. She states that "I am making no distribution to (sister's name inserted) in this will." I am the executor and I am the sole inheritor of her entire estate. Am I required to notify my sister of our mother's' passing? Am I required to post a notice in the local paper here or, if public notice is required and I post it online? Where? The sister is in Florida. My mother and I live in Arizona.
  • My air conditioning stopped working Friday night and I am being told that because it is not more than 81 degrees outside it is not considered an emergency, they also stated they don’t know how long it will be until they fix it because of the Coronavirus. How long do they have before they have to fix my air conditioner? I have 2 children and it’s very hot inside my home this is not okay.
  • I am renting a townhome and the water bill is in my landlord's name but he's making me pay the water bill. Can he do that?
  • I was arrested on a criminal charge. I was read Miranda and I asked for an attorney. At 11am the next day, I was taken before a judge. She read the charges and set bail. Then I was taken to another holding cell that had phones. Two questions: 1)What's the name of that hearing? 2)Why did I not have an attorney present, or at least someone to explain what was happening? I watch the news and see the same courtroom with attorney's representing the accused.
  • I have had a serious leak in my garage from rain for just over 2 years. The landlord keeps having me tale time out of my day to meet with roofers that patch things but do not fix. when its not fixed he will hire a different roofer because they all tell him all the tile needs to be pulled up and redone. it is still not fixed and we are having mold issues. I have buckets to collect water in the 2 spots it leaked every time it rains. I have taken several hours off work for this and still nothing is correct. What can I do as a renter to get this fixed?
  • I signed a lease to a new place which I just got the keys to, I walk in expecting it had been properly cleaned, painted, and repaired as I had viewed it before completion. Now I get told that it was stated as "move in quality and we are not entirely repainting" The walls are dirty, scratched and marred, food reminance, and spakle marks everywhere to be seen. Other repairs werent done correctly either, what can I do here if they refuse to do nothing? At this point I want out of the agreement I havent moved in but I have paid deposit rent and signed the lease. Can I legally get out of this?
